Beaded flowers
I hope you enjoy making our beaded flowers kit! I've created this page to help you create your project, and give you inspiration for future projects.
Our beaded flowers kit makes a gorgeous wall hanging! You'll learn how to make 3 different beaded flowers before assembling them all together in a hoop. Where will you display your finished wall hanging?
In the video below, Rachel tells you a little about our beaded flowers kit and shows you the wall hanging she made!
The poppy is definitely the trickiest of the 3 flowers, so Rachel has made a video where she walks you through how to make yours.
Top tips!
Amanda (from Beadology) has given us her top tips for making your beaded flowers:
- Keep the beads on your wire firmly held together before any twists. If they are loose then you will end up with gaps and you won’t be happy with your petals.
- Always cut more wire than you need - it's always better to have too much than not enough (while not impossible to add in extra wire, it's a faff!).
- You’ll have leftover beads - use them to make a fun multi-coloured flower!
Rachel also gives a number of tips in the poppy video above so it's worth watching to see those!
What next?
If you've enjoyed making your beaded flowers and would like to continue, you could start by experimenting with the beads and wire that you have leftover from this wall hanging project. You could try using the techniques you learned with this kit but varying the colours and shapes to create different types of flowers. How many different ones can you make?
If you've enjoyed this kit, you can find a wide range of beaded flower kits at Beadology, the small business behind this wall hanging kit. They have kits to make all kinds of different flowers, including wreaths and even potted plants! (Note: the flower kits have now moved to a new website called The Beaded Garden)
If you want to explore other beaded flower techniques, then I have found a couple of useful websites:
The first is Bead & Blossom, who have a wide range of free tutorials for different techniques. They also have a free PDF download which covers all the basics, including supplies and beginner techniques (scroll down to 'Beginner Techniques' and then click on 'Free PDF Lesson Packet' to download the PDF). And this page has a library of free patterns as well. This website also sells tutorials for more complicated flowers if you really get into it!
The second is My World of Beading. This page has loads of useful information but starts with the most recent post, so you need to scroll down to 17th July 2019 and start with the post 'How to start French beading' and gradually work your way upwards!
Finally, I have put together a Pinterest board of free tutorials, paid tutorials and inspiration. I hope that I've inspired you to continue with beaded flowers and to explore what you can do with them!
