Knitting month: free knitting patterns for beginners

knitting month - knitting patterns2.png

Welcome to the Cosy Craft Club's knitting month! We really want to encourage you to have a go at knitting yourself, and we'll be sharing the key things you need to know to get started. You can find all our knitting posts in one place here.

Hopefully, by this point in our knitting month you will have some needles and yarn, and know how to knit your first stitches. So let’s put those new-found skills to some use!

There are LOADS of beautiful free knitting patterns out there which are perfect for beginners. You can easily find more than you’ll ever need on Pinterest, Ravelry (a MASSIVE online resource for knitters and crocheters) or the patterns section of LoveKnitting.

But for today, I’ve picked some out for you here which I hope you’ll love. Click on the pictures to go through to the patterns.

Small things

For the ultimate knitting satisfaction, start with small things so that you can admire your work sooner.

Medium size

These will take you a little longer to knit, but still use simple stitches

Cowls

I love cowls so much I couldn’t pick just one! I’ve made the orange one below myself (except mine is mint green) - it’s incredibly warm and squishy.

Blankets

Blankets are LARGE - they will take you a long time to knit! But because of their repetitive nature, they are also straightforward to knit. So if you want a beautiful project to knit while you’re watching TV, why not try one?!

So many beautiful patterns to choose from! I hope this selection has inspired you to get knitting! As an added incentive, knitted things make lovely gifts :)

Happy knitting!

P.S. If you like what you see here, I have plenty more (mostly) simple knitting patterns on my Pinterest knitting board
