What are Dot Mandalas?

Dot mandalas are intricate, symmetrical patterns built from dots of varying sizes radiating outward from a central point. It's a slow, absorbing art form with strong associations with meditation and mindfulness, making it an ideal craft for shutting out the outside world and losing yourself completely.

The dots are created using round dotting tools and paint, with stencils available to help keep the design symmetrical around the circle. The tools themselves are simple; the real skill lies in precise dot placement, consistent sizing, and an eye for creating designs that are genuinely pleasing to look at.

What you’ll make

With this kit, you will make 2 beautiful 10cm coasters. You’ll learn how to create symmetrical designs, and how to use the dotting tools to create accurate, repeatable shapes. This kit comes with detailed written and video instructions to guide you through the process and create your mandala coasters.

Everything you need to create two dot mandala coasters:

• 2 coasters

• 2 self-adhesive cork bases

• 8 large dotting rods

• 5 small dotting tools

• 3 cotton buds

• 6 colour of acrylic paint for dotting

• Black acrylic paint for the base

• Varnish

• Paint brush

• Stencil

• Chalk pencil

• Black card

• Small water pot

• Kitchen paper

Time to make

Each coaster takes 2-3 hours to make.

No experience needed

No prior experience is needed. The kit comes with instructions and information to guide you through the technique.

Finished size

Your finished coasters measure 10cm across. The kit comes in a box measuring approximately 24 × 17 × 5cm.
